Tratamientos Aplicables a Materiales Lignocelulósicos para la Obtención de Etanol y Productos Químicos

En los últimos años se ha incrementado el uso de etanol obtenido a partir de la caña de azúcar; sin embargo este biocombustible, considerado de primera generación choca con diversas situaciones sociales como la seguridad alimentaria. Por esta razón se evalúa con gran acogida la producción de biocombustibles a partir de celulosas no comestibles, las cuales son un material rico en carbohidratos, adicionalmente en la actualidad están siendo incinerados generando un gran efecto deletéreo al ambiente. En este artículo se presenta las características de los materiales lignocelulósicos, su composición y las condiciones que se debe evaluar para la obtención de biocombustibles y productos químicos de importancia comercial.
