Capacidades, causalidad y modalidad

El presente artículo propone una concepción naturalizada de las capacidades, la causalidad y la modalidad. En particular, se defiende que las capacidades son propiedades causales modales que confieren un rango de posibles comportamientos a los fenómenos que las poseen. Estas propiedades, que pueden ser conocidas experimentalmente, son las responsables tanto de la causalidad como de la modalidad física. Luego de abordar consideraciones epistémicas generales, la segunda sección desarrolla una ontología de las capacidades. La tercera sección esclarece las relaciones entre la causalidad probabilística y las capacidades. La cuarta sección avanza en la articulación de una epistemología experimentalista de las capacidades.
