Timely approach to the diagnosis and treatment of syncope during pregnancy.
Review of three cases

Introduction: Syncope is a symptom consisting of a brief loss of consciousness, which occurs because of a self-limiting, relatively transitory, and spontaneous period of inadequate supply of irrigation in the brain. The possible causes are numerous. Syncope and presyncope are prevalent in pregnancy, however, the etiology during pregnancy are not well defined.
Series of Cases: In this series of cases, three patients with syncope are presented. The first patient presented syncope during pregnancy; the second one was known because of neurogenic syncope before pregnancy and presents an increase in the frequency of episodes. And the third one presented syncope at the beginning of gestation.
Conclusion: It is relevant to establish a diagnostic and monitoring protocol to define the cause of syncope during pregnancy. In order to establish if there is a cardiac alteration that could complicate the mother or the fetus in the course of the gestation, at the delivery time or at the puerperium, and not only consider it to be an isolated event related to hemodynamic changes or physiological effects of the own pregnancy. Finally, specifying the cause of the syncope in pregnancy, a better follow-up is obtained during the prenatal control and programming the moment of delivery according to established protocols, and thus, preventing complications to the "mother-child binomial".
