Grief: Biopsychosocial Perspective of the Pandemic by Covid-19 and its aftermath

Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted various contexts of life, presenting losses on a personal and social level and affecting people´s health; these losses: death, health, employment, economy, socialization, freedom, among others, have brought different personal and social bereavement.
Objective: the purpose of the present study was to know the perspective of significant loss in people who experienced grief, having been infected by the virus, the associated meanings that are given to the loss in covid-19 and the phase of psychosocial rupture.
Methods: The instrument was applied with Google forms and filed in Excel relating to 99 patients and/or open population with grief for significant losses; of these, 62% reported having been infected by Covid-19 between the period March 2020 to February 2021, and 76.76% lost at least one member of their nuclear family due to this virus.
Results: It was identified that the main health effects within the participants infected in the psychological area, with fear, sadness and anxiety stand out. In addition, they pointed to the losses of death, health, confinement, and economy in the pandemic as a situation of sadness, pain, fear, and loss.
Conclusions: The SARS-Cov2 virus disease has brought short, medium and long-term consequences, with impacts on people’s quality of life and their bio-psychosocial well-being.
