This paper offers a contemporary review of empirical research and reflections around the influence of prematurity on the neuropsychological birth of executive functions during the early years. For this, the document confronts empirical results of works on topics of neurodevelopment, neuropsychology and prematurity. The review illustrates how early birth entails risks to the subject’s construction and his ability to voluntarily control behavior and cognition.
