Abstract

The frequent postponement of activities that are associated with a longterm reinforcer, but with an immediately unrewarding action, is likely to cause problems. If it occurs, it can be considered such postponement as pathological. On the other hand, gaudiebility refers to the set of modulators that regulate the enjoyment experienced. It is inferred that people with high gaudiebility may be less vulnerable to procrastination because they have more elements to enjoy the tasks compared to those who usually procrastinate. Because of the lack of empirical evidence, the objective of this work was to study the relationship between
gaudiebility and pathological procrastination. For doing so, the Irrational Procrastination Scale and the Gaudiebility Scale for Adults of Morelia were administered to a sample of 337 people over 18 years of age. A negative relationship was observed between procrastination and the factors Interest, Concentration, Enjoyment in Solitude and the total score of the gaudiebility scale. However, in the regression model, the Imagination factor appears to be positively related to procrastination. The results open the possibility of carrying out adjuvant treatments using some intervention techniques such as those that appear in gaudiebility therapy to reduce pathological procrastination.
