Abstract

Born Global Companies (BGs) act in a local sphere to respond to an international need, revolutionizing global standards of entrepreneurship. After COVID-19, the research situation of this typology of companies and Latin American participation is unknown. This article evaluates information on the scientific activity of BGs between 1991 and 2022 to identify opportunities in Latin America. Structured searches were carried out in Scopus and Web of Science, followed by a bibliometric analysis to identify authors, countries and journals, and finally a scientific mapping to analyze key terms, citations and co-authorship. A total of 6013 papers were identified and 1184 publications were included, with peaks of production in 2017 and 2019, and International Business Review as one of the journals with the highest number of publications and citations. Production in the United States, England, Finland, Australia and, for Latin America, Colombia, Chile and Mexico, in collaboration with Spain, were highlighted. Of the 5 clusters that emerged from the relationship between words in titles and abstracts, one cluster shows strategic perspectives on BGs and their impact in emerging markets. The topic of BGs is still relevant, with little representation from Latin America, and it would be interesting to propose structured models for this type of entrepreneurship applicable to this region.
